What to Do When Your Child Throws Tantrums

What to Do When Your Child Throws Tantrums

Children can go way too energetic. They’ll use up their energy in every way that they can. That is why you’ll never really know what to expect from them. They could just be playing and the next second, they are already throwing tantrums. This could happen anywhere, even in a daycare in California.

Tantrums are every parent’s nightmare. After all, it can be hard to control a child who is getting aggressive, crying, and screaming. In worst-case scenarios, the child even ends up running away.

Even if it is challenging to deal with a child who is throwing tantrums, it is also important to keep in mind that this only happens because of their lack of self-regulation. At their tender age, children are unable to handle extreme emotions, resulting in tantrums.

Children aged 1-5 will most likely throw tantrums. Before enrolling your child in a pre-K program, you should learn how to handle whenever your tot throws tantrums. Here are some helpful tips that you can take note of:

  • Remain calm as much as possible.

Keep yourself composed. Getting angry would only worsen the situation.

  • Acknowledge your child’s emotions.

Talk to your child and reassure him/her that you understand his/her feelings.

  • Take charge of the situation.

Whatever the reason for the tantrum is, always take charge of the things that need to be done.

Regardless of the parenting style that you may have, the key to handling a child’s tantrums is consistency. Through this, discipline and self-control are enforced on the child.

Future Achievers Preschool, a preschool in San Diego, California, is willing to share this responsibility with you!
